Barn Burnin' Locofoco
Chicago Weekly Journal 1846
April 20th
Mrs. Elizabeth Peters, of Boone Co., Indiana, thus notices her absconding husband: "Left my bed and board last fall, thereby rendering my expenses lighter, my legal husband, John Peters, without cause of provocation. All the old maids, and young girls, and widows, of all ages and conditions, are hereby forwarned against harboring or trusting him on my account, as I am determined not to be held accountable for his debts, or more especially for his conduct, because he is a loafer, a drunkard, a gambler, a liar, a thief, and a barn-burning Locofoco."
