Bring Me A Ducky!

I love the idea of baths.  There is nothing better than a giant bathtub with a bunch of bubbles.  The only issue is, the tub holding said baths is usually really sub-par...Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy a bath but being 5'10" means that they aren't always the most cozy, relaxing experience.  Which is why I fell in love with Alegna's wooden bathtubs....they are probably the most gorgeous, inviting looking bathtubs I've ever seen...

Alegna

They are probably a bazillion dollars so I'll probably never be getting one...but a girl can dream..

I'll leave you with this image to drive your own daydreams..

Yes, please.

Ahem...

The Deserving Few

My opinion of the Oscars last night is pretty low.  I'd become the Oscars grinch right now but I'd rather share something wonderful instead.  The winner of the Best Animated Short last night was The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.

Until this morning, I hadn't had the pleasure of watching this film.  Now that I have, I feel compelled to share with anyone and everyone it's utter perfection. It's heartbreakingly sweet and a wonderful ode to the beauty of the book.  The animation is lush, the characters are instantly bonded to you...I absolutely loved this.

Please Do Not Steal The Puppies

I mean, there's times when I've wished I could take a cute puppy and run.  But good sense has always prevailed.  Evidently this is not the case for everyone.

"Seriously lady?"
Woman "tucked puggle under coat"

*side note, puggles are beagle-pug mixes..not poodle-pug mixes..a poodle-pug mix is known as a Puggapoo..just fyi

Even When Starting Over Hurts

i hope you have the strength to start all over again.

Or even when you didn't think you had the strength to start over...or when you got there in a million of the wrong ways...just remember, life can be exactly how you pictured it..and sometimes it's even better...

Today I am grateful that I am who I want to be, where I want to be, and I'm incredibly proud of the life I have.

I'm even more grateful that I can say that without a single shred of doubt or the smallest fear that I'm lying to myself.

What a wonderful day

Waiting To Exhale

Waiting to find out when your favorite author's new book is coming out?  Holding your breath for something interesting to hit the shelves?

Feel free to exhale because I've got the list!

The 30 Most Anticipated Books of 2012

Personally, I'm really looking forward to Justin Cronin's 2nd book in his vampire trilogy started by The Passage.  *side note--I really hate labeling that as a "vampire" trilogy..it's much more than that and not full of stereotypical vampire characters*

Here's to hoping I get some great books to review this spring!

You Are What You Eat

Being as I'm trying to consistently eat a bit healthier, I'm always interested in new food sites.  While I've always liked the recipes on Weight Watchers, my friend Joey suggested I check out SkinnyTaste.com for some new ideas.  I love it!

This easy to navigate blog includes a ton of different recipes (with their Points value for those of us trying to follow WW) and great pictures as well.  I was impressed by the variety of foods in general but being as I'm going to attempt to be vegetarian for a month, I wasn't too impressed with her vegetarian options.  Maybe I didn't dig far enough into the site (I went about 5 pages into the vegetarian options) but most of what I saw was desserts or side dishes.  Kind of disappointing.  For vegetarian options I'll probably stick more to Hungry Girl (whom I also LOVE LOVE LOVE) but I'll be looking forward to March 14th when I can bring back the meaty options!

Google Really Does Rule The World

Or at least they just seriously rule sometimes.

One of my fellow librarians was attempting to Google something random about atheists and wandered into some hidden Google tricks.

First, in Google, type in "do a barrel roll" and hit enter.

Are you laughing?  Are you surprised? Did you know Google did that?

If you're as entertained as we were, check out these other Google tricks

Mashable's Google Golden Eggs

Also funny but not actually produced by Google--search "Find Chuck Norris" and enjoy the first result

I have this desire to have a tattoo on the inside of my wrist...I'm not sure which wrist and I'm not positive of the design...but I recently saw this as a tattoo on someone's wrist and it has stuck with me..

Another Reason To Buy Cookies

This was meant to deter people from purchasing Girl Scout cookies...I don't know about you, but it basically means I'm buying double the cookies this year!  And contributing to Girl Scouts whenever I can!

Lush

Betts and Scholl enticed me long ago with their wine..

Namely, The O.G. Grenache

They don't have it listed on their website anymore but I'm hoping to wander across a bottle again someday...

In the meantime, Costco has Betts and Scholls' Black Betty for $29 which is a bit more than I usually spend for a random weekend evening..but it was AMAZING...a fantastic shiraz that I highly recommend to any shiraz fans...

Next up on my wish list?  The Chronique Grenache...rumor has it that they named it that due to the fact that they couldn't stop drinking it and Dr. Dre was one of the first to purchase a case...feel free to send me a case Dre!

Flashbookdance

Jess Rothenberg just got her first book published and she's pretty dang excited about it.  So excited she's filmed a video of herself dancing with said book.  And her exceptionally cute cat.  I had to watch the video on mute (stupid work during a stupid snowstorm) but I still laughed out loud at her enthusiasm.  And the cat.  That cat is not interested in what's going on...but WHO CARES?!?! YOU GOT YOUR BOOK PUBLISHED LADY! Good for you!

I will keep an eye out for it at the library!

Holla Back Y'All!

Wow, I just posted this on my work blog for a second....ummm...not what I meant to do...glad I noticed...

In honor of awesome friends, almost being the weekend, and an impending snowstorm...

May I suggest you chair dance and/or sing along...oh, and no, chair dancing is not the same as lap dancing...

Start Off On The Right Foot For 2012

Hawkeyes start season at Soldier Field

Although, considering how many players we've lost lately, there may be nothing to watch..eh, I don't remember actually watching the game much last time anyway!

One Man's Trash

Forgottenbookmarks.com is a blog created by Michael Popek which showcases the bits and pieces that he finds inside the books that end up in his bookstore.  From pictures to shopping lists, he shares the interesting things that fall out of the many books he has the opportunity to enjoy.  I can only imagine the things I've used to mark a page over the past 30 years of reading...

Side note--

I definitely read this initially as a certificate for a $95 taco.

It is not.

Although I bet that would be an awesome taco.

BEST PERSONALS EVER!

Example:

JANUARY 4, 20128:01 PM

“AT BEAT MAKING SCHOOL”

Me: Bilingual, articulate, well-traveled, high cheek boned rapper who is somewhere between sparsely and heavily tattooed. When I’m not at beat making school I’m probably doing yoga, reading, writing, or thoroughly enjoying a meal. I am 6’2”, 25 years old, slim, caucasian.
You: Well-dressed, spectacled babe who doesn’t shirk from my off-color sense of humor and who walks the delicate line dividing high and low culture with poise. Impeccable hygiene. Knowledge of Gucci Mane and/or Lil B a plus.

Best ad ever.  This ad clearly describes a skinny white dude rapper. SO AMAZING

Cook And Rap And Color

I have found some great books today.  I could do some serious damage on Amazon and be entertained forever.

With sweet images such as this:

Yes it does, Lorraine, yes it does.

What I wouldn't do to be coloring some super sweet paisleys right now...

Rich People Problems

I guess I really mean, things rich people do that are totally weird (and annoying) to me.

Things I encountered at the fancy pants gym today:

1) A woman monopolizing the vanity area of the locker room by using 2 blow dryers at one time.  How is this even possible, you ask? Have one in each hand and just randomly aim them at your head.  Does this cut drying time in half?  Logically, you would think so.  However, I'm fairly confident that the lack of any sort of technique just means your making a bigger mess of things.

2) Old man who has plenty of money for said fancy pants gym and a fancy pants trainer, clearly has no money for deodorant.  Please stop running next to me.  I can taste your b.o. and it makes my run gross.  P.S. I also felt really bad for myself for the couple minutes I thought it was me that smelled so god awful.  I will never get those self esteem minutes back.

3) Old lady insisting on wearing only her granny panties and senior citizen bra for over 35 minutes of putting on her makeup at the mirror.  Do you not put on clothes at home while you're getting ready, lady?  Is this a thing that I don't know about with people? Also, I'm horribly confused by your lack of nice underwear.  I mean, I get the weird granny panties.  I DO NOT understand the bra that resembles something that could be purchased at Walmart in the "My First Bra" section.  Once you hit a certain age, is it required that we have to go back to training bras?  If so, I'd like to work on legislation ensuring that I'm allowed to still wear my VS bras when my boobs are friends with my knees.

4) My appointment at Fresh Skin was over an hour late today.  They offered no apologies.  I also find this weird because most people in HP expect a ridiculous amount of apologies for even the smallest of problems.  For example, if you look at someone the wrong way, you may have to give them your first born child as a small spaces maid.  Evidently, I do not look fancy enough and therefore, do not currently have a small child cleaning small spaces.  I also do not warrant a simple "Sorry we wasted 1.25 hours of your time." This is disappointing.

I have so much to learn about rich people....

Step One

Get off my butt.

Turns out, that's the only way this girl will be losing any of the way -too-many-pounds that she's gained in the past year.

So today I did this

Except it didn't include a beach or a bikini....but let's just pretend it looked exactly like this...

My 3 month goal is to lose 10lbs.  I can't yet bring myself to say out loud how much that would mean my initial goal weight is.

But I do plan on wearing this sweater every single day once I knock it down by 20lbs.

Which better not be later than April cause this sweater is largely wool....just another reason to hurry up with the skinny train!
